Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard courts
A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his initial title for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
The athlete, a former number one, has endured a torrid period, winning just one win at the big events and suffering a setback at the American major.
His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in especial - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with long-time trainer Cervara.
Now working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought competitive triumph over Frenchman Moutet.
This marks Medvedev's first trophy after the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt from that period of that year.
Success also indicates he has won twenty-one victories at twenty-one different tournaments.
"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my two daughters simultaneously, so to win a trophy is particularly special," commented tennis professional the champion.
"This championship is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the first title I won when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."
Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his last six title deciders, including in the German tournament previously this season.
His counter-punching approach and regular reactions on the tennis court had caused commentators to doubt if his ability to perform at the elite level was concluded.
However the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and perform assertively, backed up by an better serving game.
He recovered from a break down in the first set against the difficult opponent, securing four of the last five points to take the lead.
The competitors exchanged break points in the following set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden professional title, seized the initiative to push for a third set.
He defended 4 early chances in a tight final set before the champion broke to 15 to serve for the match.
Suitably, he earned victory with a rally at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
